Samsung Heavy Industries’ cumulative orders this year exceeded US$10 billion, the first time in five years.

Samsung Heavy Industries said on Wednesday it had secured orders for two oil tankers worth 284.9 billion won (approximately $188.5 million), bringing its cumulative orders this year to exceed the $10 billion mark for the first time in five years.

The Korean shipbuilding company said the ships were ordered by a Bermuda-based shipowner and are expected to be delivered in May 2029. With the latest contract, the company has secured orders for 32 commercial ships and two floating LNG facilities worth US$10 billion this year, achieving 72% of its annual order target.

This milestone marks the first time since 2021 that the company has achieved annual orders exceeding $10 billion.
