Meta is reportedly in talks to lease computing power to Anthropic, with a value of up to $10 billion
According to people familiar with the matter, Meta Platforms Inc. It is in preliminary negotiations with Anthropic PBC and plans to lease its data center computing power to the latter. People familiar with the matter said negotiations between the two parties are still in their early stages and plans could eventually change. Reports say the cooperation will last two years and be worth up to $10 billion. Spokespeople for Meta and Anthropic declined to comment. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a previous interview that all of the company's computing power is still used for internal projects, but the market's quotations for computing power are so impressive that he has begun to consider leasing some of its computing power to external parties. Zuckerberg said at the time: "The market quotation for computing power is very high. In some cases, rather than using it for internal projects, it may be more cost-effective to rent computing power or consider such transactions." Boosted by the above news, Meta's decline of nearly 6% earlier in the session narrowed. As of 1:30 pm New York time, the decline was around 2.50%.
