As the yen continues to weaken, Apple raises i Phone 17 prices by 10% in Japan.

The yen exchange rate continues to hover at a 40-year low, The company has raised the prices of iPhones and some other products in the Japanese market. On Saturday morning, Apple Japan's official website showed that the 256GB basic iPhone 17 starts at 142,800 yen (equivalent to US$879.29).

The previously recorded original price was 129,800 yen, an increase of about 10%. The current price of the iPhone 17 Pro with the same storage version is 194,800 yen, an increase of 8.3% from the previous price of 179,800 yen. Other products such as Apple Watch and AirPods have increased in price simultaneously, and some models have also increased by 10%.

An Apple Japan spokesperson did not respond to the price adjustment. The long-term weakness of the yen has forced many local retailers in Japan to raise the prices of imported goods. Apple's price adjustment is not an exception.

Just three weeks ago, the Cupertino, California-based company raised the prices of Macs, iPads, home devices and Vision Pro globally due to a chronic shortage of memory chips. At that time, the prices of iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches did not increase. There is currently no sign that Apple will increase iPhone prices in markets outside Japan.
