S&P Dow Jones Indices partners with Pantera Capital to launch new digital asset index
The index company and digital asset investment institution Pantera Capital jointly launched the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index on July 21, aiming to provide institutional investors with a more disciplined and structured digital asset allocation benchmark. Unlike most existing crypto indices that focus on price momentum or popular tokens, the new index adopts a rules-driven approach similar to traditional financial benchmarks and only includes tokens and companies with practical application scenarios and real revenue sources to highlight digital assets with strong fundamentals and economic value, rather than purely speculative assets. Cathy Clay, CEO of S&P Dow Jones Indices, said that the company is committed to helping investors penetrate market noise through trustworthy benchmarks, applying the same rigorous standards to the field of digital assets, and serving a diversified investment portfolio with the help of a fundamental-driven and economic analysis framework. Dan Morehead, founder of Pantera Capital, pointed out that for global investors, the biggest obstacle in the crypto field has always been how to allocate assets, and the new index aims to identify truly important digital assets and infrastructure. The launch of the index marks a new stage of maturity for the digital asset market. Blockchain application scenarios are showing a wider range of value. Major market supervision is becoming increasingly clear, and the threshold for institutional participation is gradually lowering. The new index can create a synergistic effect with Pantera Capital's three major strategies of passive, hedge funds and venture capital with a scale of more than US$3 billion, and serve as a reference benchmark for active management or new investment products.
