Musk hints at growing Tesla-Space X partnership but declines to discuss merger
According to a transcript of the call provided by FactSet, Musk spoke on Wednesday night. "It can be seen from our extensive cooperation with SpaceX in so many fields that there is more and more crossover between the two parties, especially on the Terafab project. This is really going to be a huge project," said the company during the earnings call. Musk then seemed to allude to speculation about a closer relationship between the two companies, saying: "Obviously, we can't discuss things like a merger on an earnings call. It has to be done through the proper process." His comments are likely to fuel investor speculation about further integration between the electric car maker and the rocket company. The two companies already share technology, engineering talent and have the same CEO, Musk.
