Amazon-owned Zoox set for temporary U.S. deployment exemption, with annual cap of 2,500 vehicles
Amazon-owned autonomous vehicle company Zoox has been approved for commercial deployment in the United States over the next two years, with up to 2,500 vehicles per year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will grant Zoox a temporary exemption, allowing it to move forward under an enhanced regulatory framework. Zoox self-certified the safety of its autonomous vehicles in 2022 and currently operates in Las Vegas and San Francisco while testing in several other cities.
