German Bund Yields Fall in Late European Trading; 30-Year Yield Rises
Late in the European session on Thursday (July 30), the yield on Germany’s 10-year government bond fell 0.7 basis point to 3.154%, a fresh intraday low. It gapped higher to a daily high of 3.195% at 2:21 p.m. Beijing time, then quickly gave back those gains, spending most of the session around 3.170% before sliding noticeably after 11:00 p.m. The 2-year German yield fell 5.2 basis points to 2.763%, also hitting a fresh intraday low. It moved lower throughout the session, briefly edging up to 2.861% when European stocks opened, which was the day’s high. The 30-year German yield rose 2.6 basis points to 3.658%. The 2s/10s German yield spread widened by 4.492 basis points to +38.907 basis points. France’s 10-year government bond yield fell 2.1 basis points to 3.940%, a fresh intraday low. Italy’s 10-year yield fell 2.7 basis points to 3.963%, also a fresh intraday low. Spain’s 10-year yield fell 2.0 basis points to 3.601%, and Greece’s 10-year yield fell 3.1 basis points to 3.860%.
