Cigna says GLP-1 growth slowed in Q 2 as Eli Lilly shares fall as much as 4.5%
After pharmacy benefits manager Cigna said second-quarter GLP-1 prescription drug growth slowed and it expected sales volumes in the second half to be “slightly lower,” Eli Lilly shares fell as much as 4.5% intraday, their biggest one-day intraday drop since April. Cigna Chief Financial Officer Ann Dennison said on the earnings call: “In the second quarter, we observed a slowdown in GLP-1 growth as coverage levels declined slightly and utilization growth moderated from prior highs. We expect this trend to continue for the rest of the year, and we have incorporated it into our full-year outlook.”
