Cook Says Apple’s Supply-Chain Flexibility Is Lower Than Usual
Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the supply chain is currently less flexible than it used to be. He said the issue lies in cutting-edge chip production. That means TSMC is not providing Apple with more wafers, or at least not the amount Apple had expected. “We are continuously evaluating our sources of supply. As everyone knows, the DRAM (memory) market is currently dominated mainly by three suppliers. Clearly, if more suppliers were to enter the market, that would be a good thing, as it would help improve our supply situation. As for whether it would help on pricing, that is still unclear, but it would certainly help us on the supply side.”
