Bloomberg Grains Index Falls 1.57% at Friday’s New York Close
At the close of trading in New York on Friday, July 31, the Bloomberg Grains Classification Index fell 1.57% to 31.0762 points. The index declined 5.26% for the week but gained 5.65% in July. It rose steadily from July 1 through July 24, reaching a high of 33.3899 points, before gradually giving back those gains. CBOT corn futures fell 1.01% to $4.6375 a bushel, bringing their weekly decline to 4.87% and their July gain to 6.36%. CBOT wheat futures fell 3.84% to $6.38 a bushel. They declined 5.90% for the week and gained 8.27% in July. CBOT soybean futures fell 0.04% to $11.8825 a bushel, declining 5.21% for the week while gaining 3.89% in July. Soybean meal futures rose 5.87% in July, and soybean oil futures gained 2.60%.
