Grain futures rise while livestock futures decline at Monday’s close
At the close in New York on Monday, Aug. 3, the Bloomberg Grain Classification Index was up 1.30% at 31.4812. The index was slightly lower before U.S. stocks opened, holding near 30.90, and then continued to climb. CBOT corn futures rose 1.94% to $4.73 a bushel. CBOT wheat futures gained 1.92% to $6.5150 a bushel. CBOT soybean futures advanced 0.40% to $11.9225 a bushel. Soybean-meal futures rose 0.09%, while soybean-oil futures gained 1.84%. CBOT lean-hog futures fell 1.41%, live-cattle futures declined 0.10%, and feeder-cattle futures slipped 0.14%.
