U.S. stocks open higher; Palantir jumps more than 14%
U.S. stocks opened broadly higher on Aug. 4, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.17%, the S&P 500 up 0.4% and the Nasdaq Composite up 0.78%. Caterpillar rose 12%, marking its biggest one-day gain since October 2022. Palantir climbed more than 14% after the company sharply raised its full-year revenue outlook. Optical communications stocks continued to move higher, with Lumentum up more than 8% and Coherent up more than 11%.
