U.S. stocks close lower as San Disk, Western Digital plunge after earnings.

U.S. stocks closed broadly lower on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 0.85%, the S&P 500 slipping 0.18% and the Nasdaq Composite declining 0.06%. The Dow ended a five-session winning streak. The Roundhill storage ETF fell more than 4%. Western Digital dropped more than 13%, while Kioxia ADR and SanDisk each fell more than 6%.

SK hynix declined about 5%, and Micron Technology fell more than 1%. SpaceX rose more than 6%, lifting its total market value back above $1.5 trillion. Microsoft gained more than 2%, reaching its highest level since November 2025. AI application software stocks plunged.

Datadog and AppLovin fell more than 19%, EPAM Systems dropped more than 15%, and Axon Enterprise declined more than 14%.
