Jewel-Osco Recalls Two Fresh Salsa Products Over Potential Salmonella Contamination
U.S. retailer Jewel-Osco has issued an urgent recall of two fresh salsa products because ingredients used in the products may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled products are Chefs Kitchen Fresh Salsa and Ready Meals Fresh Salsa. The jalapeños used in the products were supplied by Direct Roots, a distributor for Taylor Farms. The jalapeños were affected by a contamination incident in the supply chain of Coast Citrus Distributors that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is currently addressing, prompting the related recall. To reduce the public health risk, Jewel-Osco said consumers who purchased either product must stop consuming it immediately. The products should be safely discarded or returned to any Jewel-Osco store for a full refund.
