Egypt Leads Gains as Most Middle East Markets Close Higher
Most major Middle Eastern markets ended higher on Sunday, Aug. 9. Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index rose 0.05% to 10,817.01. Saudi Aramco gained 0.38% to 26.60 Saudi riyals after falling for three consecutive trading sessions. The Saudi-listed Albilad Southern Eastspring MSCI Hong Kong China Stock ETF rose 1.71% to 11.32 riyals, approaching its May 13 closing level of 11.43 riyals. Egypt’s EGX 30 index advanced 0.82% to 55,125.43. It has risen for a fourth consecutive trading session since breaking above the record closing high set on May 10 on Aug. 4. Oman’s MSM 30 index climbed 0.26% to 7,387.16. It has almost fully recovered the ground lost in the July 20 plunge and is continuing to approach its July 19 closing level of 7,407.09. Qatar’s exchange index fell 0.12% to 10,100.11. Kuwait’s Premier Market Price Return Index rose 0.12% to 9,307.48. It has been in a sustained rebound since July 23 and has held near recent highs; it closed at 9,319.89 on Aug. 5.
