Apple considers major redesign of Apple Watch lineup, including screenless devices.

Apple is considering a major redesign of its Apple Watch lineup as the wearable-device industry moves toward screenless products and other new form factors, technology journalist Mark Gurman said in a post published locally on Aug. 9.

Gurman said Apple’s industrial-design team has spent about the past year studying ways to redesign the Apple Watch, including screenless devices, screens in different sizes and other exterior designs.

Apple has not yet settled on a specific plan, but it is evaluating options including devices without displays, different types of screens and round watch faces. The company is also considering higher-end models and products priced below the Apple Watch SE.

Apple also hopes to drive growth in its wearables business through upgrades to artificial-intelligence and health features.
