Maersk raises full-year outlook as container market seen growing 4%
A.P. Moller-Maersk, the Copenhagen-based container-shipping giant, raised its full-year earnings outlook again as disruptions to global supply chains pushed freight rates higher. The company said Thursday that it expects full-year underlying EBITDA to reach $10.5 billion to $12.5 billion, up from its previous forecast range, which had a ceiling of $10 billion. The container-shipping industry has benefited from instability in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz. The disruptions have effectively taken some vessel capacity out of the market, making supply and demand more favorable for shipowners. Maersk carries about one-seventh of the world's ocean containers. The company had already raised its 2026 earnings outlook and its forecast for global container-shipping volume growth in June. On Thursday, Maersk reaffirmed its expectation that the global container market will grow by about 4% this year.
