Maersk shares jump 8% after earnings beat; company raises outlook.

Danish shipping giant Maersk reported second-quarter operating profit above expectations on Thursday and raised its 2026 earnings guidance for the second time this year. The company's shares jumped more than 8% shortly after the market opened. Second-quarter revenue was $15.76 billion, compared with an estimate of $14.1 billion.

Earnings before interest and taxes, or EBIT, came to $1.57 billion, versus expectations of $544.2 million. Maersk raised its full-year 2026 guidance for underlying EBITDA to $10.5 billion to $12.5 billion, from a previous forecast of $8 billion to $10 billion.

It expects underlying EBIT of $4.5 billion to $6.5 billion, up from an earlier range of $2 billion to $4 billion. The company also now expects full-year free cash flow to be positive, compared with its previous forecast of at least negative $1.5 billion.

Maersk said the upgraded guidance was based mainly on its actual second-quarter performance and greater visibility into operations for the rest of the year. The company expects global container-shipping volumes to grow by about 4% for all of 2026.
